NPS Area 24 Summer Show 22nd June 2014
The Summer Show was held at Gillingham and Shaftesbury Showground which was an excellent venue, providing us with great rings and we had entries from across our Area (Dorset/Hants/Wilts/IOW) plus from as far as Somerset/Devon/Berkshire/Bristol and even Nottingham!
We were blessed with beautiful weather and the rings ran smoothly – thank you to all who competed. The standard of entrants was extremely high.
I make no apology for now thanking the following Committee Members for their invaluable contribution to making the show a success and for voluntarily working so hard.
In no particular order:-
Anna Macey – for not only fulfilling her normal duties as Area Sec & Treasurer but also for providing refreshments for the Judges/Stewards – some 40 plus enjoyed the hospitality.
Veronica Baker – for being Show Secretary – extremely well organised and for the enormous amount of preparation beforehand.
Jennifer Lane our Vice President worked tirelessly in the hospitality tent – her continued support is much appreciated.
Terry Jenvey – who helped with the organisation and judged on the day.
Keith Staples – for being a very efficient Chief Steward
Alex Noyce – Jack of all Trades and very good too!
Lynden Barrow – for organising all rosettes/cards etc for each ring
Helen Duffield – for coordinating the Judges and for stewarding continuously on the day.
We were also supported by Jenny Glasspool, Eve Holt, Len Smith, Angie Hewittson, Roger Dillon-Hensby, Hannah & Lucinda Upton, Rosie Kitcher, Abigail Macey, Max Schoutissen, Will Tomlinson, Claire Pratt and Mr Whitely.
Thank you also to our Judges and to Mike Coombes our course builder.
Without naming anyone I would like to point out that 7 helpers are not Area members or involved in showing but readily helped us. 8 of our helpers/committee/stewards are over the age of 60 and 4 are over 70 years of age. I think it is obvious that shortly there will be very few people able to continue with running Shows/Areas/Events etc unless more interest is shown from the membership in putting time aside to help at even one show or perhaps joining the hard working committee. Please do let us know if you would like to join our committee or to help in any capacity at our events during the year.

** BSPS Heritage Olympia Semi Final Qualifier **
Due to the unfortunate cancellation of the New Forest Enthusiasts Show on 3rd June we have been elected to hold the New Forest Heritage Olympia Semi-Final Qualifier. This will be held at our Summer Show on 22nd June at Gillingham and Shaftesbury Showground.
** The class number for this is class 100 and the entry fees will be the same as all the other ridden classes , it will be a not before 12 noon start **

NPS Area 24 – Spring Update
The second edition of the Area 24 Newsletter should be with all the membership over the next few days. Along with this there will be a Summer Show Schedule – 22nd June @ Gillingham & Shaftesbury Showground. Also, an Application Form for the Rosette Scheme. Please note the format for this has been altered.
Young Judges Training sessions are due to commence so any late entrants please contact us asap.
Following the successes of our Dressage Teams Louise James has volunteered to become the coordinator for Dressage and we look forward to some new innovations.
I understand some Area 24 members have been fortunate already to qualify for HOYS/RIHS and other Major Championships – congratulations to all. Please do feel free to forward any results/articles and/or photos to be placed on the website.
Also, remember we are happy to place adverts from members on the website free of charge – for non-members there is a charge of £10 per month.

Dressage Finals at Addington Manor 2014
Please take a look at our Dressage section to see a full write up on our teams results and a report by all our team members. Well done everyone.
Practice show at Parley Equestrian Centre on March 9th – we look forward to seeing you there. Due to the recent weather conditions there is no availability for a warm-up area so there will be a half hour break between the in hand and the ridden classes in each ring to facilitate this.
Our WHP Clinics have proved immensely popular – Ian Norton has provided excellent tuition and we are very grateful to Mr & Mrs Large for the use of their school and jumps.
The Richard Ramsay Clinic was a great success and was enjoyed by spectators and participants alike. Mr Ramsay has kindly confirmed that he will be available again next Spring.
We have had little uptake on our dressage training and several dates have been cancelled – we do, however, have some offers for the teams but if anyone else is interested in competing on behalf of Area 24 please do let Area Sec. know.
In April, we have 2 flatwork clinics planned – dates to be confirmed.
We are preparing our itinerary for the training dates of young judges – please do let Area Sec. if you wish to join.
Please make a note that the Summer Show date has been moved to June 22nd @ Gillingham and Shaftesbury Showground. Schedules will be available for download and will be attached to the next newsletter.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year to everyone. I am sure no-one is enjoying this weather and I hope you are coping with the floods – hopefully, no flooded homes.
We do have a packed Winter/Spring programme for you which includes Training/Shows/Tack Sale/AGM & lunch etc. etc. Please take time to support the hard working committee in all their efforts.
Your newsletter should arrive by email or in the post (however you have agreed with your membership). We would be grateful for this year’s subscriptions so that we can ensure you all receive the schedules for this year’s shows. You do make a small saving of £2 if you pay before the end of February.
We look forward to catching up with members and their news over the forthcoming weeks. Don’t be afraid to send in articles/photos etc for the website. Also, we are happy to place adverts on our website FREE OF CHARGE to members so please do allow us to help with your sales!

Youngstock and Novice Ridden Show 3rd November 2013
YOUNGSTOCK & NOVICE RIDDEN SHOW – was held under a new format on Sunday 3rd November, 2013, due to the fact that there are fewer foals on the ground and less people are able to afford the costs of showing. To maximise entries we added some winter qualifiers in hand and ridden. Also, there was the addition of 2/3 yr olds in hand. The show, as always, ran like clockwork thanks to our Secretary Louise James. Many thanks to all those who attended, I’m pleased to say it was well-received. What was lacking in quantity was certainly made up for with quality!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who renewed their memberships at the show and welcome those who either re-joined or joined for the first time. Unfortunately, due to technical errors in the change over of both membership sec and the new database several members, apparently, did not receive any updates through the year. Please accept our sincere apologies and this will, hopefully, have been fully rectified for the future. Should you need hard copies of schedules/forms/newsletters please do request them as to save costs through this time of austerity we are keen to mainly use emails.
We have many plans for the next few months and next year so please do try and support any of the events – if not all!

Dressage Training 2013/2014
Could everyone interested in dressage training with Jane Tizzard at Parley Equestrian Centre please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone the secretary please. There will be a small charge for the sessions and they are held with the aim of putting together a team for Area 24. There will be approximately 2/3 sessions in November/December and 3/4 sessions in the New Year. We hope that from the sessions Area 24 will be able to put together teams to send to Addington for the finals in April 2014.
